Energy has been produced offshore since the 1960s. While energy law developments have in common the use of (fixed) installations, each offshore activity is currently based on a dedicated Act. This regulatory situation impedes on (i) facilitating future (cross-border) energy developments and (ii) efficient re-use of installations. It might be more efficient to issue one integrated law, which could focus on the regulation of the offshore installation rather than the type of energy produced.
