Onyinye is the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Sub-Saharan African Region Young Energy Professional, 2020. She is YALI Power Africa, Young Women in African Power Alumnus and the first female Certified Energy Manager (CEM) in Nigeria. She is a versatile professional with 11 years’ experience in ICT consulting and Energy Management. She is the Head of Mini-Grids at Engie Energy Access Nigeria, and recently led the team that raised 60mUSD Project finance capital to build Mini-Grid

    I lead the Engie Energy Access Nigeria deal team to close a 60mUSD Project finance deal with Cross Boundary Energy Access for electrifying 150,000 households in Nigeria through MiniGrids. I have in parallel lead the team that built a pipeline of over 100 viable mini-grid communities; signed exclusivity agreement, conducted surveys, executed commercial analysis and managed all involved stakeholders. rnFurthermore, I am building a high performing team. We have grown from 2 to 15.

    Energy Markets and Regulatory Consultant - Full-time From January 2020 to March 2021

    I was part of the team that computed a Baseline Energy Demand Study for 2019 and 2020 for a Distribution Company with over 1,000,000 customers and distributed 4.2TWh of energy. I was the consultant in charge of Eko Distribution Company (DisCo) and modelled their energy tariffs, disaggregated into different tariff bands for the distribution of 3.8 TWh of energy, and provided specialist advice for tariff renegotiations.

    I developed and implemented the policy and framework for preventive maintenance operations on all power distribution assets; 17,000 distribution transformers, 290 distribution feeders valued at over 20 Million USD.
